FATHOM Expands On-Site Managed Services, Customized to Clients' 3D Printing Needs

California-based 3D printing studio FATHOM has participated in some pretty interesting projects in the past. We recently saw the company featured on an episode of CNET’s “On Cars,” and not long before that they teamed up with Athena Studios for a Halloween short film involving, of all things, Cheetos. FATHOM is definitely one of the more creative 3D printing service bureaus out there, and it’s also always been clear that despite their unusual side projects, they’re a company that’s very serious about the services they offer.

FATHOM sells 3D printers as well as offering prototyping and low-volume manufacturing services, and now they’ve announced that they’re expanding their on-site managed services. Taking advantage of the customizable staffing services will allow printer owners to implement the technology to the fullest within their companies, without having to dedicate internal resources to on-board training.

As we look to keep up with all the goings-on at FATHOM, company Co-Founder and Principal Rich Stump filled 3DPrint.com in on the new offerings.

“By leveraging FATHOM’s on-site managed services, customers can realize the benefits of equipment ownership right away. This program allows customers to get results, fast, without having to worry about reassigning internal resources,” Stump told us.

“FATHOM has always prioritized flexibility and agility in product development. By helping companies analyze their specific product development challenges, we can offer a tailored equipment and staffing solution to improve their internal processes. Our experts specialize in everything from additive to traditional manufacturing, as well as CAD and assembly work.”

“At FATHOM, it is our goal to help companies across all industries adapt additive technologies to their product development processes and manufacturing applications,” said Michelle Mihevc, Co-Founder and Principal at FATHOM. “Our on-site managed services program further enables our customers to optimize the many advantages of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.”

Each managed service program is customized to the specific needs of the client company, so that customers will be able to pick only the services that they require to meet their production needs.

“The FATHOM team works with many large-scale customers whose needs are highly application-specific,” said Dylan Oliver, General Manager at FATHOM in Seattle. “With on-site managed services, these customers are 3D printing exactly what they want, when they want, where they want. Whether you’re setting up a new shop, aiming to conserve human resources, or just looking to bring a FATHOM expert in-house, our on-site managed services are an adaptable solution to any environment.”

Options include:

  • Order intake and management

  • Inventory and production management

  • Pre- to post-processing operations

  • Preventive maintenance

  • Basic 3D CAD support

  • Operation of other basic shop tools or equipment

“We aim to anticipate and surpass customer needs as often as possible, and it became clear that this is a program whose value to clients is increasing,” said Rich Spott, Director of Support Operations at FATHOM in Oakland. “The support team at FATHOM is highly rated by its customers and we are proud to further expand the unique combination of products and services we offer to some of the most innovative companies in the world.”

FATHOM was founded in 2008, offering sales and support for enterprise 3D printing systems. Four years later, the company expanded into a full-service additive manufacturing production center that specializes in merging 3D printing with more traditional manufacturing technologies. Their second production facility opened in Seattle in 2013. FATHOM offers FDM, PolyJet, SLS, and SLA 3D printing technology – and they’re also one of the enviable beta customers that got to be among the first to try out the Nano Dimension DragonFly 2020 (which we saw at their booth at SOLIDWORKS World last month). The company also offers rapid tooling and injection molding, CNC machining, urethane casting, and model finishing, all with a quick turnaround.

FATHOM has a lot cooking right now, so stay tuned to 3DPrint.com as we hear more from the busy company!
